Semantics: What do you mean, exactly?
One of the most amazing elements to semantics
is that we acknowledge this realization in the English language and
yet how often do we remember to maintain that perspective during
every conversation? It's a practice like anything else, in fact
those involved in public speaking roles are quite familiar with the
semantics of our language and create effective tools to make sure
"you understand what I am saying to you." Often times the listener
will repeat back what he or she heard in the conversation as a means
of discovering any misunderstandings.
But there is even a
more important realization about semantics and that is how
are YOU using words to define what you're
thinking? The very words you choose to use defines your thoughts to
yourself and to others. The canvas in which people observe you
painting is done by every word that passes from your lips. And yet
do we find ourselves saying phrases purely out of
conditioned habits? Or as a means of avoidance to what you
are truly thinking. Is there such a thing as "generally
speaking?" or "to be honest with you". What about sarcasm? Saying
words that unintentionally "have no meaning". And yet we all feel
there is an underlying suggested meaning that remains
unspoken and mysterious.
It's a wonder we understand each
other at all? :)
Every word we choose
to articulate propagates as sound waves, just as we observe from
the animated image of sound waves here on this page, every
vibration of our vocal chords radiates outwards like pebbles being
dropped in water, one after another.
Sound waves are energy
created by us that are a tool to define our chosen experiences.
Words are part of the vehicle into creating our intentions.
Whether we realize it or not every word
propagates your identity and how you choose to experience this moment in time.
The choice is always yours, but are you always committed choosing or
do you sometimes default into a subconscious pattern of choices?
As an ever
expanding culture we have forgotten what the ancient civilizations
held sacred. The spoken word is a gift, it is the means to create
our communication with ourselves (divine echo) and with other
people (divine reflection). Words inspire feelings, passion
and ideas to ourselves and to others. Words are the
vehicle to resonating with our essence.
So what do we do? Where do we start
the unwinding process of subconscious conditioned responses, phrases and
words that impede our life rather than perpetuate it?
- Create an intention
- Become the observer of
your thoughts
- Begin the process of
dissolving words from your vocabulary
- Listen to the way
successful people speak and write
- Honor this process
and take it easy on yourself
- Practice this in every conscious moment
Create an intention: Start by writing it down or saying it out loud every day.
For example:
- I choose to create an environment of awareness to my thoughts,
words and actions being in alignment with one another.
- I choose to create in this moment responses that
flow from acceptance, understanding and compassion.
- I choose words that express my truth and radiate fully and
completely my feelings in this moment.
Become the observer of your thoughts: Visualize
everyday you are observing yourself in every situation. As if you
were in a movie and you are the main character portraying yourself.
Imagine as if every word you speak was heard by everyone in your
life regardless to where they are alive or
dead.
Begin the process of dissolving words from your
vocabulary: With time and patience you will begin to
dissolve words like T.R.Y., C.A.N.T.

Listen to the way successful people speak
and write: The definition of success to me is not just
about monetary wealth. I am referring to people successful in all of
their relationships. Starting with themselves, friends, family, life
partner, husband or wife.
Honor this process and
take it easy on yourself: I have been a practioner of this method for
10 years and I still
catch myself misusing words or conditioned responses, thankfully I have friends who
lovingly remind me of the words I'm using are not me and I am
asked to rephrase my intention. Forgive yourself, honor the process and move
forward.
Practice this
in every conscious moment: H.U.M.A.N. beings are momentum
generators. Every thought, word and action creates a momentum of
energy spiraling towards a desired experience or away
from an achieved experience. Every moment we contribute to one and
the other consciously and subconsciously. Our practice creates the
momentum, with focus and attention. The result is perpetuating
whatever it is to the present moment.
*Feel free to improvise
any of these steps and create your own method, this is a living template with permission to grow and evolve into whatever works for you.
